Garden Blogger Bloom Day

Today is Garden Blogger Bloom Day, hosted by Carol of May Dreams Garden. It is 82° here today and the record breaking highs have caused us to have earlier than normal spring blooms.

I'm not sure what the plant is in the bottom middle, I think it is a weed. I was hesitant to pull it up until I saw the flower. It has gotten huge in a short period of time. My poor lone surviving lilac shrub has very few blooms, but I could still smell it as I was weeding in the yard today. I am really hoping that the two new lilacs will do better. My flowering crabapple tree is blooming, but my paltry flowers are hardly worth mentioning after posting about the tree down the street.

Funny how plants differ. I have two red twig dogwoods planted together. One is covered in blooms and I've yet to see a bloom on the other.

I am still enjoying the tulips. Most of mine are pink or purple but there are a few red ones scattered about. The peonies have buds! I can't wait for them to bloom again. Lilacs and peonies, both make my heart sing with delight!

The clematis are full of buds. I look forward to seeing them again too!

I was surprised to see the May Night Salvia beginning to bloom already. Oops, I just realized that I put that dogwood in two collages.

I have phlox in several places, it has spread and is blooming like crazy! I think I need to do some transplanting.

I have some things that I have to get done today, so I better get off of the computer and get busy. I hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi Robin - it's gorgeous. Is that creeping phlox at the top of the post (the masses of pink blossoms)? Gorgeous colour everywhere. And you use the pink and purple family so well.

Your garden is looking good Robin. I just hope that it all doesn't burn up this summer. Meaning that I worry that there will be a long hot dry summer following this beautiful spring.

You sure have some beauties there. I love all the bright colors of your flowers. Love the first photo of your phlox. I sure hope my new phlox will do something this year.
Have a good weekend.

Wow, 82 degrees and in April, sorry Robin I would that hot in spring, is bad enough in summer. I think the plant in the first mosaic you think is a weed. Yes it is garlic mustard. Your garden looks to be full bloom. Have a wonderful day.

I have had plants that don't usually bloom at the same time bloom together this year. It has been a screwy spring.
Happy GBBD

Robin, gorgeous blooms and photos of them. I love creeping phlox as it is such a easy plant to grow and is so showy. The only bad thing about this spring is that everything is blooming in fast motion. But I'm not complaining too much.

The mystery plant is garlic mustard! pull it out! pull it out!

(It's a familiar face here, though not nearly as hard to control as the bindweed. Mostly you just don't want it to go to seed.)

I love Creeping Phlox! The first plants I got from my husband's grandmother more than 20 years ago. It looks so fabulous this year. The pink tulips are so pretty; I like them better than the brighter colors.

Spring is ever so beautiful at your house, and everywhere! Be careful of that weed, it looks a bit like garlic mustard, on the invasive list. I had some growing here too, and told hubby it was the prettiest weed around! Oops!

We were 43 degrees here this morning and will be that tomorrow. Had a little frost. Nothing warm here. I look at your beautiful flowers with some envy and lust. For the sunshine and some heat.

Thanks for visiting.

I love pink and purple together! Your tulips are so pretty. And all the creeping phlox covered in flowers are wonderful! I need more of that.

Just beautiful, Robin! My peonies have buds, too. It's CRAZY! Maybe they won't open until it's more their time, though.

Robin, I'm just reading your mid-April post now, on the first of May! I never did get decent photos of many of my blooms because they came and went so fast and I wasn't home for a few days when they were at their peak, such as tulips. It looks like you could easily add more azaleas since it seems to have done well there. My salvia wasn't budding mid month but is now, and I still have no blooms on my clematis...except for 1 that quickly turned into a flower and it was very tiny. The rest of the clematis still have no buds. That's funny, because I remember when I first showed my clematis leaves starting to come out you said they were ahead of yours. Weird weather we've all had this year! My azaleas are not looking good now and really didn't last long at all this year. They came out too soon, as did the tulips. Anyway, you had a lot to share for bloom day and it was all pretty;-)

PS I just realized that I mentioned your azaleas in this post, when in fact, you hadn't written about them until a later post! I was going backward on your blog so that's why I was talking about the 'future'...haha.
